The PCP WISE Project is an ambitious initiative using Environmental Observation (EO) data and space-based solutions to enhance water management and climate resilience. Selected under HORIZON-CL6-2024-GOVERNANCE-01-5, the project has a €19 million budget, with €12 million allocated for research and development. Running for 36 months, it brings together 26 partners, including 12 public buyers, from 10 EU countries.
The project aims to develop TRL 8 solutions to tackle water-related crises such as floods, wildfires, and droughts, while improving decision-making, procurement coordination, and digital tools for climate adaptation. PCP WISE is driven by a set of clear objectives:
- Encourage public buyers to work with the market to prototype, demonstrate, and evaluate new climate impact solutions.
- Develop solutions that enhance decision-making in water management.
- Facilitate public buyers in achieving shared strategic goals through coordinated procurement.
- Provide tools for better water management and climate adaptation.
- Promote and scale up the adoption of PCP WISE outcomes to tackle water distribution challenges.
In the context of the project, an
Open Market Consultation (OMC) has been launched for a future Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) of R&D (research and development) services on the climate adaptation domain using space and EO (Earth Observation)-based information to prevent and mitigate water related crisis challenges to increase climate resilience in Europe.
The
PCP WISE Open Market Consultation (OMC) will run until
30 June, 2025, unless terminated earlier and it aims to inform the market and gather feedback for the upcoming Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP), focusing on five climate adaptation use cases using Earth Observation (EO) data. Key events include an Info Day on
29 May, an online event on
3 June, and a hybrid event at EXPANDEO
in Brussels on 12 June.
Registrations will open soon via the PCP WISE Community Platform. For more information
