On 5-8 September 2023, 17 of the most innovative EIC-funded awardees showcased their game-changing solutions at Gastech 2023 in Singapore in the framework of the EIC Overseas Trade Fairs (OTF) Programme 2.0. The leading energy event brought together more than 750 exhibitors, 600+ speakers and over 44.000 visitors from 100+ countries, offering an integrated, world-class business environment. Successfully organised by the EIC in close collaboration with the European Delegation in Singapore, the European Reception took centre stage at this year’s Gastech, gathering high-profile participants, including diplomats, entrepreneurs, exhibitors and government officials.
Gastech 2023 kicked off with the official ribbon cutting of the European Pavillion by the EU Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Iwona Piorko, the Chief executive of the Singapore tourism board, Melissa Ow, the vice president of DMG events (organisers of Gastech), Sarah Howell and the Head of EIC Transition and Business Acceleration Services at EISMEA, Viorel Peca.
In her speech, the Ambassador Piorko highlighted: «The European Union has a leading role in green diplomacy and the global fight against climate change. The 17 companies in the European Pavilion showcase innovative products and services in relevant industries such as gas, LNG, hydrogen and low-carbon solutions. At Gastech, the EIC brings together SMEs, start-ups and scale-up companies from EU and Horizon Europe associated countries, which stand out for their excellence in climate-friendly technologies».
«Gastech is the ‘place to be’ for innovative companies that are presenting the latest innovation in the area of energy and climate change. I'm proud to lead a delegation of 17 EIC Awardees. We are confident that those 17 extraordinary companies will be generating a significant business impact following Gastech 2023», noted Mr. Peca.

In an exclusive interview with the EIC, the president of DMG events Christopher Hudson pointed out the added value of Europe’s presence in Gastech 2023, stating that «The European Pavilion will be centric to Europe’s public and private sector participation in Gastech. It will be a hub for promoting the innovation and ingenuity of European companies. It will provide a great opportunity for European and Asian companies to exchange lessons learned across the areas they operate in, to boost bilateral trade and offer solutions to the challenges, which have hindered cross-border energy investment until now».
Bringing 17 EIC-backed innovation leaders from 11 EU and associated countries, the European Pavilion featured the latest exceptional developments in the energy field, offering an immersive experience around the quality and authenticity of European novelties. Throughout the landmark tradeshow, the EIC pioneers showcased new products, solutions and technologies in the area of natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, low-carbon solutions, and climate technologies, strengthening business ties with international counterparts and doing business across the entire energy value chain. «Thanks to the EIC we have had the chance to participate in Gastech, getting to know new end users, new customers and to meet with distributors and partners», mentioned the APAC Project Manager at Sensia Solutions and selected EIC beneficiary to attend Gastech 2023, Aurora Fernández.

In addition to the exhibition, the EIC organised the European Reception, an exclusive, high-level networking event to connect business counterparts and innovation leaders exhibiting at Gastech 2023. The invitation-only business reception brought together more than 150 participants, including H.E. the Ambassador Iwona Piorko, the Vice President of DMG Events, Simon Ford and some of the best entrepreneurs exhibiting in Gastech.

In the spotlight of the famous tradeshow was the high-level panel discussion on Strategic Leadership: Structuring energy transition funding incentivise private sector & early-stage investment & reduce risk with the participation of Mr. Peca, who stressed out the fundamental role of the EIC in backing visionary entrepreneurs in Europe, focusing not only on the new models for innovation funding, but also on the policies that should be adopted in order to support emerging technologies.
