As part of the EU-Japan Centre's support for Innovation, its Technology Transfer Helpdesk jointly with the Enterprise Europe Network Japan acts as a nominator for several startup events in Japan. European startups and innovative companies with an interest in Japan can express their interest of becoming a Centre's nominee for 3 different events coming up this fall.
You can apply here until 1 August 2022.
Events
1. Global Innovation Forum Osaka (GIF)
- Online exhibition from 30 September, Online pitch on 27 October
- B2B meetings for selected companies 9-10 November
- Free of charge participation in Europe segment in case of nomination by the EU-Japan Centre.
2. KGAP+ - Batch 8 (Keihanna Global Acceleration Program Plus)
- Online event, Pitching in September 2022
- Mentoring and showcasing for selected companies (October-January, tbc)
- Free of charge participation in Europe segment case of nomination by the EU-Japan Centre.
3. The Innovation Leaders Summit (ILS)
- 29 Nov. -2 Dec. Power Matchmaking on-site or online,
- On-site participation in Tokyo is highly encouraged
- Packages starting from 22,000 JPY in case of nomination by the EU-Japan Centre. Please inquire in advance before applying if you want to know all the different options.
Why should you apply?
Successful applicants will be nominated by the Centre for one or more events of their choice. Nomination by the EU-Japan Centre means that you can apply for the event with the endorsement of the EU-Japan Centre but it is not a guarantee of being accepted. The final right to accept participants will always be with the organiser of each event.
Each event has its own characteristics and benefits:
- GIF provides connection with corporates from the Osaka region, Japan's second largest business hub. Winners of the pitches will be invited to Osaka.
- KGAP+ is a startup acceleration programme by the Keihanna Science City located in Kyoto.
- ILS will be about arranging meetings with Japanese corporates at a major Open Innovation Conference in Tokyo.

Selection process:
Applicants will undergo a screening of their expressions of interest which may be followed by a video call interview. Successful applicants will be contacted in the week following the application deadline.

Only applications submitted here by 1 August, 2022 can be considered for the selection.
