On 17th and 18th July 2024, the European Innovation Council (EIC) and Galp, the Portuguese energy giant, hosted a physical EIC Corporate Day in Lisbon, Portugal.

Taking place at the Headquarters of Galp  15 EIC-selected beneficiaries from 11 countries presented innovative market-solutions to the focus areas that Galp are exploring in hydrogen/biofuels/sustainable fuels, battery value chain, smart mobility, renewable energy, carbon capture and energy and cost optimisation. Dedicated pitching sessions were followed by one-on-one meetings with high level decision makers of the Portuguese corporation.

The Corporate Day with Galp inaugurates the reinforced EIC Corporate Partnership Programme that supports EIC-funded startups, scaleups and SMEs on their partnering and business deal making strategy with a selected group of top European corporations.

EIC representatives were present at the Corporate Day with Galp, including Manuel Mendigutía, programme coordinator in charge of the EIC Corporate Partnership Programme. Manuel had the chance to participate in a roundtable with investors, universities, and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of energy through open innovation on the European Landscape. According to Manuel Mendigutía  “By connecting pioneering startups with industry leaders, the EIC aims to promote collaboration and accelerate business deals that contribute to leveraging the full potential of European innovation.”
