Pitch your innovation to Public Buyers from all around Europe at the SPIN4EIC Pitching session for the Big Buyers Annual Event

 

The SPIN4EIC Programme in collaboration with Big Buyers Working Together is organizing a Pitching session in the context of the Big Buyers Annual Event on 24 April in Brussels.

The Big Buyers Working Together project was launched by the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) of the European Commission in 2023 to support collaboration between public buyers with strong purchasing power and promote the wider use of strategic public procurement for innovative and sustainable solutions. By working together and pooling their resources, cities, central purchasing bodies, and other major public buyers they maximise their market power and impact.

The Pitching session is carried out with support from the SPIN4EIC Programme (EIC Flagship initiative on Innovation Procurement) and it is dedicated to matching EIC beneficiaries with public buyers' needs in the field of digital solutions. EIC Beneficiaries will have the opportunity to pitch their solutions to Public Organisations such as the City of Lisbon the City of Gothenburg and the City of Haarlem!

Furthermore, the categories of public buyers who will attend the event include public purchasing organizations such as local and regional governments, central purchasing bodies, and other public agencies. Members of the Big Buyers Working Together focus on a wide variety of topics relevant to the public sector from the Healthcare to Mobility and much more! Your solutions may be related to digital solutions for the construction sector, AI for low emissions zone, digitalisation of health and social care.

Pitching session

The Big Buyers Annual Event will take place on 24 April 2024 in Brussels, at Maison de la Poste. It will be a daylong event, but the pitching session "Innovative digital solutions for the Public Sector" for EIC Beneficiaries will take place in the afternoon. The pitchers will be invited to present their solution in front of Public Buyers such as the City of Lisbon, the City of Gothenburg and the City of Haarlem, who will present their needs in digital solution.

The event will also be accessible to all the organizations invited at the event. Members of the Big Buyers Working Together project will be in attendance. In previous iterations of the project participating buyers have included: City of Haarlem, City of Rotterdam, City of Valladolid, City of Vienna, City of Zurich, Bezirksamt Neukölln von Berlin, Bordeaux Métropol, Nantes Metropolis, Wallonie - Secrétariat général - Direction du Développement durable, Belgian Post, Brussels Mobility, Rijkswaterstaat, City of Helsinki, City of Amsterdam, City of Cologne, City of Porto, City of Copenhagen, City of Vantaa, City of Barcelona.

Who can apply?

For this pitching opportunity, a total between 5 to 6 EIC Innovators will be selected to participate.

All EIC Beneficiaries involved in pioneering products or services related to digital solutions for the Public Administrations who have developed or are in the process of creating solutions for the challenge below and who are ready to pitch their solutions, are invited to respond to this call.

 

About

Big Buyers Working Together

Under the Big Buyers Working Together (BBWT) Project are working ten Communities of Practice (CoPs). Each CoP is devoted to the purchase of a specific product, work or service where European collaboration is needed. To support the process of developing more strategic and innovative procurement approaches, public buyers will meet regularly online and in person. Over the next 4 years, Big Buyers Working Together will help drive market demand for innovative and sustainable products and services in Europe.

Each of the project’s ten CoPs will define its own objectives to effectively address sector-specific opportunities and challenges on innovative and sustainable practices of public procurement.
The BBWT Project’s ten CoPs will support public authorities in the following thematic areas:

  • Zero emission construction sites (ZECS)
  • Heavy-duty electric vehicles (HDEV)
  • Circular Construction (CC)
  • Sustainable solar panels
  • Mobility
  • Digital
  • Social
  • New European Bauhaus
  • Healthcare

 

Challenge description

This challenge is dedicated to innovating Public Services through digital solutions to reimagine the way they deliver essential services to communities using cutting-edge digital solutions. In an era defined by disruptive technologies, governments and public sector organizations are seeking transformative approaches to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and effectiveness in service delivery.

Your task is to conceptualize and present a compelling digital solution that may address different more specific public service challenges. Whether it's optimizing public services access, enhancing use of public resources, or fostering community engagement with public bodies, your innovation should leverage digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, mobile applications, blockchain, or Internet of Things (IoT) to create tangible benefits for citizens and stakeholders.
 

Application process

Please note the following application requirements:

  • only applications in English will be considered; 
  • applicants will be asked to upload their pitching deck (in PDF) to allow the jury to gain a comprehensive understanding of their value proposition and assess the company´s suitability to participate in the pitching event. The pitching deck should include information about the solution, market, competition, business model, roadmap, team, and financial needs, among others.

A pitching guiding session will be organised for the selected EIC Beneficiaries two weeks before the event, to help you prepare your pitch and presentations.

Applicants are kindly requested to apply only if they can commit to participating in both of the following sessions:  

- A max 2 hour online pitching guiding session: second week of April

- The Event Day, scheduled to take place on site, in Brussels: 24 April 2024

Please note that the SPIN4EIC programme does not cover the expenses related to event participation, such as travel and accommodation; thus, participants are responsible for covering the costs associated with the participation.

 

Selection process

Please acknowledge the information you provide on the application form will be shared with the buyers to maximise potential benefits and ensure the effectiveness of meetings. The buyers based on their business interests will select the final list of 5 to 6 participants among the applicants.   

SPIN4EIC will contact all applicants once the selection process has been concluded, by the second week of April. This contact does not include recommendations for those not selected.

 

Cancellation policy

Cancellations will only be considered in duly documented cases of “force majeure”. Unjustified cancellation can lead to exclusion in future Business Acceleration Services events.
