What's in for you?

You will have the chance to pitch your solutions to the City of Vaasa, in the frame of the prestigious Vaasa Energy Week.

The City of Vaasa is committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions and addressing critical challenges in energy efficiency and resource utilization. A key asset in Vaasa’s energy infrastructure is Finland's largest heat storage facility, with a capacity of 11 GWh. To maximize its potential, Vaasa aims to integrate innovative technologies, particularly high-temperature heat pumps, into the district heating network and other applications. A future challenge lies also in the underutilization of diverse waste heat sources. The objective is to improve the capture and utilization of these resources to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

Specifically, the City is seeking advanced high-temperature heat pump technologies that fulfill the following combined requirements:

  • Temperature and Capacity: Systems capable of delivering output temperatures of 130°C or higher while providing an industrial-scale capacity of at least 5 MW. These solutions could also have the potential for integration with steam production capabilities
  • Air-Water Heat Pumps: Complementary innovations in air-water heat pump technology are also of interest for enhancing flexibility and efficiency in energy systems.

To realize these objectives, the city has earmarked an approximate budget of €20 million over the coming years. This investment reflects the commitment to sustainable development of the City of Vaasa and the ambition to lead in the adoption of cutting-edge energy technologies. Please note that there may also be other buyers involved in the pitching session, along with a broader audience attending to learn about the innovations proposed by the EIC beneficiaries, offering a wider range of opportunities for the pitchers.
