The European Pavilion returns to GITEX 2023, the most anticipated tech exhibition in the Middle East. Prior to the official kickoff of the flagship trade fair, we sat with Ayman Hassan, Assistant Vice President - Commercial at Dubai World Trade Centre and official organiser of GITEX, for a quick fireside chat. Ayman talks about European innovations and shares highlights on what to expect in the leading tradeshow. Following last year’s success in GITEX 2022, the European Pavilion is ready to exhibit again, featuring 20 exceptional companies from 12 countries at Dubai World Trade Centre (Hall 1 - Booth A1).
What should attendees expect at GITEX 2023? Which areas/conference sessions would you recommend?
AH: GITEX GLOBAL will present the year’s largest AI showcase and summit, its record growth fueled by the AI innovation wave currently gripping the globe’s imagination. This year, more than 6,000 exhibitors are participating, including 3,500 AI-infused exhibitors revealing how this next big technology shift is transforming lives, government services, business, and society.
Encompassing 10 co-located shows across two Dubai mega venues, the 43rd edition of GITEX GLOBAL is the largest yet, together with Expand North Star comprising 41 halls spanning 2.7 million sq. ft of exhibition space.
Launch shows include GITEX Impact and Future Urbanism Expo, which promise to be the epicenter of ground-shaking shifts in climate technology, while advancing sustainable cities, and co-creating a net zero future ahead of the UN climate change summit, COP28.
Meanwhile, more than 1,400 speakers – of which 80 percent are new to the Middle East – are delivering 800-plus hours of immersive mind-stretching content across 46 conference and workshop streams, tackling the biggest challenges and issues of today’s new tech paradigm, from cybersecurity future mobility, or intelligent connectivity, to sustainability and net zero energy transition.
For the second consecutive year, Europe will have had a strong presence at the tradeshow. What added value does the European Pavilion bring to GITEX 2023?
AH: With this year being the year to imagine AI in Everything at GITEX GLOBAL, the European tech ecosystem is closing the gap on AI investment with the traditional tech giants of the USA, while also focusing more attention on climate technology and purpose-driven companies. We expect these advancements to manifest at the European Pavilion at GITEX GLOBAL 2023, proving the continent’s resilience as an established global tech ecosystem.
