Challenge: Forensic Digital Copies by Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit

forensic digital copies by Agentur fur innovation

Forensic Digital Copies (FD)

Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit

About

The tender has been issued by the German Agency for Cybersecurity Innovation (Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit, German federal agency that acts on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Defence and the Federal Ministry of the Interior and that aims to strengthen the country's technological sovereignty in the field of cybersecurity through targeted innovation. This specific call follows the framework of an Innovation Partnership, with a total budget of EUR 4,528,500.00, that will proceed in several competitive phases. The target Technology Readiness Level (TRL) for the final outcomes is 3 to 4, representing early-stage validation.

The Challenge

The core objective of this Innovation Partnership is to research and develop a novel data format and supporting algorithms capable of integrating and correlating heterogeneous digital evidence sources in forensic investigations. In current investigative procedures, data from different origins—such as telecom surveillance and forensic smartphone analysis—often remain siloed. This project seeks to merge such sources to allow for mutual validation and generation of new insights through computational methods. The innovation would enhance the efficiency of cross-disciplinary collaboration between digital and analogue forensics and potentially unlock solutions in previously unsolvable cases due to fragmented or incomplete data.
