During September, the EIC Tech to Market (T2M) Venture Building Programme welcomed the first five projects into the "Team Creation" phase. In this activity, the Programme will support the projects to assess the current composition of the team, identify gaps and future challenges, and support them in building a solid and complementary team for their innovative venture.
How do we do that?
Due to the lack of entrepreneurial expertise within most scientific teams, this phase of the Programme aims to incorporate a business-oriented perspective into the project. To achieve this, an Entrepreneur in Residence is selected. Their role is to work closely with the team for six months in a part-time format, with paid compensation, bringing in their experience and business insights. The objective is to assess the potential of the entrepreneur to become a future co-founder or a key team member after the residency period.

The EIC community serves as our primary pool for recruiting Entrepreneurs in Residence. When you register your profile in our database, we'll reach out to you if your background matches any of the EIC innovators in the Team Creation stage. Thereafter, you will be provided with more detailed information about the participation requirements. You can, then, evaluate if you're available and interested in enrolling in the Programme. Every eligible candidate undergoes an interview with the Team Creation expert in the EIC T2M Venture Building Programme. If the candidate's profile aligns with the defined requirements (please read the open call linked above to check the details) and they express genuine interest in the project proposal, they will receive an invitation to a brokerage event. At this event, they get the opportunity to meet the scientific teams and initiate the matchmaking process.
Important note: If your expertise lies in a different field, we also encourage you to join our talent pool. We continuously receive projects in various areas, offering diverse opportunities for your skills and experience.
What is the timeline for the current projects in the Team Creation Phase?
We are currently in the process of reaching out to candidates and conducting interviews throughout the month of October 2023. The matchmaking process is set to commence in November. Consequently, the six-month residency period for each project will begin either at the end of November or in December, depending on the specific project timelines.
