About
As part of its digitalization and innovation pathway, aimed at strengthening technological infrastructure and optimizing organizational and financial processes—and funded by the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency—the Department of the Treasury of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance has launched two public calls for proposals for startups under the program titled: “FinTech Factory: Labs on Cybersecurity and on Innovation” The selected companies will participate in validation and testing processes within virtual innovation labs, gaining access to non-repayable grants, with a total budget of €1,260,000.
The Challenge
The challenge focuses on developing innovative solutions in the economic and financial sectors by leveraging enabling technologies based on artificial intelligence and/or data analytics, while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity principles and requirements. The proposed AI- and data-driven solutions may aim to: assess strategies, compare benchmarks, and conduct predictive analysis on large-scale data and information; support the generation of synthetic data to create analytical models in compliance with privacy regulations; extract, process, and standardize unstructured data; optimize document workflow processes through lifecycle analysis and management; support the development of open banking and open finance; promote financial education; prevent digital risks and threats such as fraud, identity theft, money laundering, and terrorism financing; foster the development of RegTech (Regulatory Technology) and SupTech (Supervisory Technology) tools.
Timeframe
Deadline for Submitting Offers: startups or SMEs wishing to apply must complete and submit their application via certified email (PEC) no later than 12:00 PM (CET) on June 20, 2025, to the following PEC address: fintechfactorymef@pec.mef.gov.it.
Who can apply
One of the two calls is open to startups, spin-offs, SMEs, and other eligible entities as specified in the detailed procedure document. The second call is specifically dedicated to women-led startups, spin-offs, and SMEs. Please note that applications and all related documentation must be submitted in Italian.
