Open Call - EIC Greenhouse Gas Webinar: The Agricultural Sector
Part of the European Innovation Council (EIC), the GHG initiative entails solidifying the phrase "climate action is a business case" and aiming to lower the carbon footprint of Europe's most innovative startups and scaleups in conjunction with Europe's largest community of innovators and researchers. With that in mind, this initiative provides a crucial understanding for your company of how this sector comprises significant amounts of energy as an input to production – among other specificities -, and how that goes in line with establishing ambitious GHG emission reduction objectives. Something you’ll surely want to dive deeper into. So, save the date: on 17 November 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 (CEST), we will host a webinar to explore the most critical aspects of the agricultural sector and how it can impact the planet on a positive or negative note.
Applications are open until 14 November 2021 (first come, first served)
The EIC GHG programme offers EIC beneficiaries the chance to assess, track and reduce their carbon footprint. How is this connected to the agricultural sector? It shares a major proportion in total GHG emissions, as food demands are increasing with the rising population. That’s why, the European Commission is aiming to tackle this issue by promoting several EU-funded projects and events to launch carbon farming initiatives by the end of 2021 after a two-year study (Technical Guidance Handbook – setting up and implementing result-based carbon farming mechanisms in the EU) carried out from 2018 to 2020 showed that carbon farming can contribute significantly to the reduction of one’s carbon footprint and help the EU’s efforts to address climate change.
Take note: taking place on 17 November 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 (CEST), this webinar is for SMEs involved or interested in the agricultural sector that want to stay ahead of the green curve.
It will include:
A brief explanation on why SMEs should urgently act and what a GHG management system is.
Give you important insights into the climate challenges and opportunities for the agricultural sector.
Also include very concrete and practical information on how to calculate your business greenhouse gas emissions and how to best reduce them.
With limited places, the applications are on a first-come, first-served basis. Best not wait long and join the EIC on this journey towards a carbon-neutral Europe.
