As an EIC-funded beneficiary, you probably already had the chance to pitch your solution in multiple matchmaking initiatives to attract the attention of investors or potential customers. But did you ever try to build win-win synergies and co-create solutions with other EIC innovators? That’s where the EIC Greenhouse Gas Programme (GHG) comes in. The aim is to leverage unique collaborative experiences between EIC beneficiaries while offering them the chance to co-create products and services. In this light, the European Innovation Council invites you to apply to our EIC GHG Co-creation Peer-to-Peer (P2P) initiative.

Are you an EIC beneficiary in the stage of development of new technologies or services that can have a positive impact on GHG reduction and environmental sustainability? Plus, are you interested in working with other innovators to improve your solutions or develop new ones?

If that's the case, we would like to invite you to embark on a facilitated 6-month online co-creation journey with other innovators such as yourself and take part in the EIC GHG programme and Co-creation P2P. Through this co-creative initiative, you'll contribute and demonstrate how together we can achieve sustainable development and collective wellbeing. To showcase the results of your joint efforts, you will be invited to apply for the GHG Summit (November 2022, subject to change) and pitch your ideas to large European organisations.

Feeling the calling? Tell us why you’re the right co-creator here

Applications are open until 25 February 2022.

A roadmap to environmental change

The co-creation journey is a virtual service with a six-month duration, following the co-creation roadmap presented below. During the application process, you'll identify the most significant GHG challenges to you and provide ideas on how to address them. After the validation process, all successful applicants will be briefed about each other and invited to join the kick-off event to potentially identify which other beneficiaries/peers are of interest for their business growth and co-creation journey. At the kick-off event, you'll have the chance to pitch to each other and conduct pre-scheduled 1-1 meetings to form co-creation teams and define the shared challenge and solution.

Step 1: Open Call & Info Webinar

To apply to the GHG EIC Co-Creation Journey Peer-to-Peer, you'll have to fill the application form available here by 25 February 2022. The Info webinar will take place on 3 February 2022, from 11.30 to 12.30 (CET), to provide more information about the EIC GHG Co-Creation initiative and the application requirements.

On another note, if you wish to attend this online event, please make sure to register in the Zoom link available here

Step 2: Validation

As soon as we close the submission process, your application will be validated. Please note that the applications that aren't in conformity with the GHG co-creation topics or are filled incompletely or submitted after the deadline will be rejected. The results of the validation process are to be sent by 28 February. Should you haven’t received any news from us in the meantime, please contact us through the helpdesk (please choose 'EIC GHG: Co-creation Peer-to-Peer’ as the subject).

Step 3: Context Analysis & Challenge Definition (Phase 1)

After the validation process, the filled-out forms will be shared among the confirmed beneficiaries - you'll then be asked to identify 2-5 peers that are of interest to your organisation for co-creation. An Orientation session will take place on 8 March (from 10.00 to 12.00 CET) to prepare beneficiaries for the kick-off event. At this session, we will explain the chosen approach to co-creation and composition of co-creation teams and discuss with the participants. A kick-off event will take place on 15 and 16 March (full days). During the first day, you'll better understand and align with the interests and expectations of other peers and discuss potential collaborations and directions. Also, you'll pitch and conduct meetings with each other and be invited to form co-creation teams. During the second day of kick-off, we'll launch and facilitate the next phases of the co-creation journey (see below).

Step 4: Reframing & Envisioning Alternatives (Phase 2 & 3)

The co-creation teams are invited to join the Workshops on Reframing challenge & envisioning alternatives that will be held on 16 March. The team members will be encouraged to share their ideas on solutions they have and how they address challenges identified in the previous step. The team will then be asked to reframe the challenge they wish to address and conceptualise a joint solution that can aim for at least one of the possibilities:

  • Solution that increases resources productivity and lowers GHG emissions
  • Solution that increases production efficiency and lowers GHG emissions
  • Solution that closes production cycles and lowers GHG emissions
  • Solution that improves supply chains and lowers GHG emissions
  • Solution that prevents pollution and lowers GHG emissions
  • Solution that reduces toxicity and lowers GHG emissions
  • Other, with an argument.

Step 5: Co-creation Teamwork I (implementation of Phase 2 & 3)

The co-creation team will work on possible scenarios with the support of business facilitators and receive a survey to assess the needs in receiving expert support in understanding better how the solution, and possible scenarios, correspond to sustainable environment development and reduction of GHG emissions. Moreover, meetings with Sustainability and GHG experts will be held upon request.

Step 6: Prototyping & Experimentation (Phase 4)

A Workshop on Prototyping and Experimentation will be held on 12 May (from 9.00 to 13.00 CET) to support co-creation teams with assessing and visualising their business models and service provision, and experience of the customers and early adopters. In this workshop, the team will acquire the know-how about the ways they can plan and validate concepts with their customers and/or early adopters.

Step 7: Co-creation Teamwork II (Implementation of Phase 4)

Further iterations in the prototyping of concepts and stakeholder mapping will be made by the co-creation teams with the support of business facilitators. They'll be encouraged to validate solutions with their customers/early adopters in real life. Moreover, meetings with Market experts will be held upon request.

Step 8: Sustainability Plan & Evaluation Meeting

At the Sustainability workshop (from 9.00 to 12.30 CET) & Evaluation meeting (from 14.00 to 16.30 CET) on 6 September, the co-creation teams will be invited to share their achieved results and reflect on success stories and bottlenecks of their collaborative processes, as well as develop sustainability action plans. This will also be an opportunity to provide suggestions for the next generation of GHG programmes and co-creation services.

Step 9: Tutorial on Video Pitching for GHG Summit

The co-creation teams will decide whether they want to proceed with the application for the GHG Summit. On 22 September 2021, the guidelines on how EIC beneficiaries can prepare their video pitches and apply for the GHG Summit will be shared in a tutorial session.

Step 10: GHG Summit (November 2022)

The GHG Summit will be a way of showcasing success stories developed in close collaboration with Business Partners and EIC beneficiaries and a platform for co-creation teams of peers to pitch their new innovative solutions to Business Partners and other publics.
