A hand-picked number of European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot pioneers was selected to present their innovations to c-level managers of OTP Bank in Budapest, Hungary, one of the biggest banks in Europe. The EIC Corporate Day, a specially designed service to increase the possibilities to accelerate SME’s businesses, focused on new technologies and solutions for the banking sector.

The EIC Corporate Days leverage collaboration between companies backed by the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and promote business opportunities and partnerships. On 19-20 November 2019, 12 entrepreneurs joined the EIC Corporate Day with OTP Bank where they pitched their innovations and engaged in-depth discussions with business and venture capital representatives.

At the event, András Fischer, Head of OTP LAB, spoke on the necessity of having an intermediate between SMEs and corporates: “Startups and corporations speak a different language. The EIC delivers big value for us by bringing the many SMEs of Europe to us so we can focus on those which have the most suitable solution for OTP.”

When questioned about the advantages of EIC Corporate Days, András Molnar, CEO at PortfoLion Ventures, had a clear message: “We’re looking for SMEs with a digital solution that has a globally scalable business model behind it. The EIC Corporate Day is a great opportunity for a Venture Capital firm like ours to get introduced to those innovative companies coming from all over Europe. I’m looking forward to continuous conversations and fruitful cooperations.”
