The first e-pitching session of 2020 featured four excellent EIC-backed SME’s pitching their business ideas and next investment rounds on cybersecurity to representatives from the European Business Angels Network (EBAN).

Cybersecurity has been one of the hottest topics of recent years and its looking set to remain so. The e-pitching session from 30 January 2020 gathered four EIC-funded SMEs: Danish CardLab, Insikt Intelligence from Spain, Belgium’s intigriti and L7 Defense hailing from Luxembourg all competed to impress the jury and audience alike. The expert jury consisted out of representatives from LBAN, Lincs, FNABA, NBAA, Sophia Business Angels and CorkBIC

The SMEs all had 10 minutes to showcase their ideas: 6 minutes of pitching followed by 4 minutes of Q&A. After all companies pitched their ideas, live scoring from both the jury as well as the present audience determined the winner.

The January-edition was won by CardLab and intigriti, the former providing unique biometric user identification and full privacy protection for e.g. credit cards, while the latter is a platform that brings together ethical hackers and companies in order to identify security threats. Both SME’s will receive premium visibility through the EBAN-network and get the opportunity to pitch live at EBAN’s 2020 Congress in Cork, Ireland.

Jennifer Woodard, co-founder and CEO of Insikt, commented on the e-Pitching session: “It’s a nice way to meet investors in a casual and international setting. Got some great feedback.”

Frank Sandelov, CEO of CardLab added to this: “The acceleration service is an excellent opportunity to get visible, but we have to remember to carry the work forward ourselves once the contacts have been opened.”
