Open call: Grow your health business in the USA with the EIC Soft-landing programme

The European Innovation Council (EIC) invites EIC companies working in health and life sciences to apply to the curated EIC Soft-landing programme to scale your business in USA with the support of the most prestigious local business partners.   

This service is free of charge for EIC beneficiaries and includes six weeks of pre-departure preparation followed by one immersion week in San Francisco and Silicon Valley from the 19th to 24th May 2024.  

15 EIC companies selected will enjoy the support of high-level local domain experts, access to dedicated pitching and networking activities, targeted market insights and warm introductions to the most relevant stakeholders within the San Francisco/Silicon Valley ecosystem including high level investors, corporates and innovation hubs.

For this first edition of the EIC USA Soft-landing programme, the EIC will count on the special guidance and support of EIC ambassador, experienced investor and entrepreneur, Jillian Manus, and the partnering with some of the most prestigious actors in the area: 

  • Stanford School of Medicine in Palo Alto.
  • INSEAD San Francisco Hub.
  • Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center San Francisco.
  • San Francisco Bay Area Council.

EIC-funded companies working on innovative advancements in the following fields:  

  • Biomanufacturing 
  • Biotechnology 
  • Brain Health 
  • Cell and Gene Therapies/Genome Editing 
  • Chronic Diseases 
  • Clinical Trials 
  • Diagnostics and Personalized Medicine 
  • Digital Health 
  • Next Generation Biotherapeutics 
  • Oncology 
  • Patient Advocacy 
  • Rare Diseases 

Selection criteria 

You will be assessed on your potential for the USA market. Expect to provide information on: 

  • Your plan to enter the USA market.
  • The expected impact of your participation in the USA Soft-landing.
  • The fit of your innovative products and services with the USA market needs.
  • Your commitment of financial and human resources to participate in the US Soft-landing. 
  • Your contribution to EU strategic autonomy as technology powerhouse.

Please note that you are required to submit a 4-slide pitch deck as part of your application (see instructions in the online application form). The information you provide will be shared with external experts to maximise potential benefits and the impact of your participation.  

Shortlisted applicants will undergo a final interview with the selection committee, which will include a member of the investment team.  

This acceleration service is free of charge for selected EIC awardees. Please note that participating EIC awardees must cover their own costs for travel and accommodation.

About the EIC International Trade Fairs and USA Soft-landing Programme 3.0 

The EIC International Trade Fairs and USA Soft-landing Programme 3.0 supports EIC awardees in their commercialisation strategy in foreign markets, leveraging business opportunities at 12 renowned international trade fairs and during 4 Soft-landing programmes in the USA, strengthening the EU innovation brand around the world. Selected EIC-funded SMEs, startups and scaleups from EU Member States and Associated Countries have access to the Programme.

Cancellation policy 

Cancellations will only be considered in duly documented cases of “force majeure”. Unjustified cancellation can lead to exclusion from future EIC Business Acceleration Services initiatives.
