As part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Coaching Programme, many experts are available to help selected innovators during their entrepreneurial journey. For the EIC, the coaching service is a tool to increase the chances of successful accomplishment for research, startup, or scaleup projects.
As stated in the Handbook on EIC Business Coaching, ninety-five percent of innovation failure comes from poor strategy and leadership. In this context, the EIC Coaching Programme aims at empowering the companies to develop and successfully implement high growth strategies and leadership for their mentees.
The positive impact of the programme is owed to the knowledge of the coaches who bring learnings from their own business development experience. Successful coaching has an impact on avoiding mistakes, considering new options and networks, improving strategy, and speeding up time to market.
In this article, part of the series dedicated to the EIC Coaching Programme we will focus on the feedback we received.

Kaido Saar, CEO & co-founder of Mifundo, joined the EIC Coaching Programme and was matched with Angela Stathi, a coach with extensive advisory experience coupled with an international and multicultural background. Angela has supported more than 10 deep tech companies across Europe through the EIC Coaching Programme.
Kaido summed up his experience with the following statement:
Highly efficient, straight-to-the-point coach. Warm and encouraging approach. Improved pitch preparation. Excellent outcome: fluent pitch with key messages delivered. Recommended for other teams.
Oscar Meivert, chief executive officer at sysarb, has similar feedback about his mentor Kaija Pöysti, an expert with more than 40 years of experience in entrepreneurship, building startup teams, developing business models and go-to-market strategies, and especially defining KPIs and monitoring process to help startups grow and scale up systematically.
We had a great coaching experience with Kaija. She provided us with a broader perspective on our product, which significantly improved our business strategy. Her insights and guidance were invaluable, helping us to refine our approach and identify new opportunities.
Dr. John D. Jost, Co-Ceo and Cofounder of MicroR systems, had a great impression about his coach Mark Wilner too. He underlined the impact he had on their company progress.
Mark was a great coach, and we feel lucky to have worked with him. He was dedicated and genuinely cared about our success, providing excellent coaching throughout our collaboration. His commitment and insightful guidance made a significant difference in our progress.
Vesna Prchkovska, chief executive officer, co-founder and board member at Qmenta, reported in a video how the experience of the overall EIC Coaching Programme helped her company.
The coaching at Qmenta came at the right stage because it was the moment when our team was growing rapidly. It has been very useful in many different aspects, in terms of leadership, management, and growing the organisation, and giving it more structure.
