MEE 2023 kicked off with the official ribbon cutting of the European Pavillion by the EU Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Andrea Matteo Fontana, Sheikh Khalid Bin Saud Al Qasimi, member of the royal family, the Exhibition Director for Middle East Energy & Informa Markets, Azzan Mohamed and Ade Yeusu Fu of Informa Markets.

The European Pavilion featured exceptional innovations in crucial sectors, such as smart solutions, renewable energy, automation, energy consumption and management. Throughout the tradeshow, at least 34 EIC beneficiaries from 14 European countries leveraged the opportunity to network with global experts and like-minded counterparts around MENA region.

Bringing together international leaders from the energy industry, MEE 2023 gathered over 20 000 attendees with 800+ exhibitors from 170 countries, delivering a platform to cutting-edge technology and the latest innovation designed to accelerate the energy transition. Further fostering international collaboration, the strong European presence at this year’s event is testament to Europe’s position as a major player in the global energy landscape. With the emergence of renewable energies and focus on sustainable development, EIC companies have been particularly active in the development of renewable energy sources.

In addition to the exhibition, the Deputy Head of EIC Pathfinder Unit at EISMEA, Martin Lange, participated in the Middle East Energy Strategic Conference, the only high-level forum exclusively focused on unpacking the complex opportunities and challenges for senior decision-makers in the energy and utilities sector.

In the framework of MEE 2023, the EIC successfully organised a high-level roundtable discussion along with the European delegations (from Austria, Italy, Germany, France and Spain) present at the tradeshow. The Deputy Head of the EIC stressed out the fundamental role of the EIC in backing visionary entrepreneurs in Europe, focusing not only on the new models for innovation funding, but also on the policies that should be adopted in order to support emerging technology.
