The City of Salzburg is launching a pilot project aimed at the urban redevelopment of the Goethesiedlung area in Salzburg-Itzling, aligning with the city’s broader ambition of achieving climate neutrality. This initiative is positioned as a model for climate-resilient, future-oriented district development. This tender is structured as an Innovation Partnership divided into four lots, and a single tenderer is eligible to apply for all four.
The Challenge
The challenge on the urban transformation of the Goethesiedlung area, specifically:
- The redevelopment of a large parking area located in the northern part of the neighborhood.
- The integration of this redevelopment with the ecological and spatial restructuring of the nearby Alterbach river landscape.
- The implementation of structural improvements that contribute to the broader goal of converting the existing settlement into a climate-neutral, future-proof urban district.
Beyond construction, the tender challenges participants to propose and pilot innovative solutions in the fields of urban living, housing, and energy efficiency, bringing together planning, technology, and sustainability in a real-world setting.

Who can apply
The tender is open to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as other entities, as as specified in the procedure's descriptive document.
