The Challenge
The challenge aims at producing a fully functional cylindrical battery incorporating Novelis’ aluminum alloy battery case, and evaluating its performance through comprehensive testing. It aims to:

Produce cylindrical battery cells incorporating the provided cases, ideally in 4680 or a similar large format

Assess expertise in conducting comprehensive cell performance testing

Explore design adjustments to improve case durability under real-world conditions
Reward
Successful applicants can receive funded research up to $70,000, with potential for additional development support. Partners will gain access to Novelis’ materials for prototype testing, internal testing facilities, and expert guidance.
