Artificial intelligence translation platform Unbabel has hit a record fundraising round with 60 million dollars. The company will be able to extend its services to more languages and offer automated translations to clients across the globe.

Unbabel is developing a translation service that combines machine translation and distributed crowd post-editing as a service, powered by innovative technology and a growing community of bilinguals and professional translators. The company calls its service AI powered and human refined, and can produce professional level translations in dozens of languages.

Founded in Lisbon in 2013, the company received European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot funding in 2015 to refine its technology and gain new markets. Large brands including Microsoft, Booking.com, Facebook, and easyJet use the services as a support in their work.

The company received a Phase 1 grant from the EIC SME Instrument program in 2015.
