On the 10th&11th of December 2020, the EUvsVirus community, with the support of the European Innovation Council, is organizing the EUvsVirus Launchathon. The event aims to support market-ready startups to be matched on the next level of partnership.

Built up by a group of 30 volunteers, with 42 startups lined up and so far 66 partners ready to get involved, the launchathon aims to create as many sustainable connections as possible, between startups and corporate partners, public procurers and investors.

Driven by an international community, the EUvsVirus was launched in April 2020, as the largest Hackathon in the world aimed to find innovative solutions to combat the COVID19 crisis.

Out of 2500 projects, 120 winning teams were selected for the innovative products they’ve built on a very short notice. A month later, they were invited to the EUvsVirus Matchathon, to connect them with global partners willing to help them out with transforming their MVPs into real, sustainable businesses.

Now, after 8 months of hard work, 42 teams are market ready and in search of seed funding opportunities to make another bold step into their startup journey.

The #EUvsVirus community is the foundations of a future European innovation ecosystem ready to solve societal problems, by using the power of innovation and technology.

"It is a great honour for me to be part of this event. I'm really excited to see that the journey we started together in April, with the EUvsVirus Hackathon, followed by the EUvsVirus Matchathon is still very much alive. The EUvsVirus Community is a mission-driven innovation ecosystem, involving 25k individuals from 40 countries that so far made more than 2235 partnerships, collected hundreds of thousands of EUR in investments and made an impact already. EUvsVIrus Community is continuing in the right direction, today at the Launchathon giving the startups the opportunities to make another 1000 of connections that will push them further to tackle the challenges of our society. Last, but not least I appreciate very much the involvement of this few, stubborn volunteers who want to see these innovative solutions transform into sustainable businesses. As we said at the EUvsVIrus Matchathon - this is just a beginning. They sure are proving that really was a start. I'm looking forward to seeing in what ways this will grow and I will continue supporting them."

"The world is moving in a dynamic state, where unpredictable is the only predictability. Start-Up ecosystems with their launchathons. hackathons, matchathons are building a unique experience, networks, behaviour very much suitable for these dynamic conditions, delivering inspiring solutions to the most pressing challenges like #EUvsVirus via open global collaboration. This is an important model to learn from while exploring ways of self-organised societies."
