The office dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of the European Medicine Agency has launched a survey to gather feedback from SMEs and industry stakeholders.

What is the survey about?
The adoption of Commission Regulation (EC) No 2049/2005 on 15 December 2005 included implementing provisions relating to SMEs in the pharmaceutical sector with the aim of promoting innovation and the development of new medicinal products by SMEs. Subsequently, the EMA SME office was set up to offer assistance to SMEs and address their needs.
This survey is conducted to receive feedback from stakeholders on the support provided to small-and-medium-sized-enterprises (SMEs) at the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
The questionnaire is open to SMEs and interested stakeholder organisations. Contributions are particularly sought from individuals, enterprises, authorities, and organisations engaging with SMEs in the pharmaceutical sector.
Your feedback is important and will allow us to understand current issues faced by SMEs. Your thoughts and opinions will help us tailor future activities to the needs of SMEs.
The results of the survey will be analysed and reported anonymously at a roundtable meeting with SME stakeholders in 2025. Additionally, a report will be published.

How to complete the survey?
The survey is divided into sections including profile of respondents, feedback on EMA’s SME qualification, awareness of EMA’s support for SMEs, review of current EMA’s SME incentives and potential for further improvement. This interactive e-survey is customised to the respondent's profile and can only be submitted electronically.
Participants are reminded to submit one consolidated response per group.
