Someone

Mark your agendas! The EIC will be hosting the next event of the European Parliament Pilot Project on Gender Gap in Investments  in Berlin on 26 November 2024. The event will take place at the Ahoy X WLOUNGE, from 9:00 to 19:00 CET. In this context, the EIC is inviting all EIC-backed women-led companies to join the Startup Spotlight scheduled to take place in the afternoon, where you can showcase your innovations in the biotech and healthcare sectors.

The Startup Spotlight is a special initiative to showcase the exceptional women entrepreneurs who are transforming industries, breaking barriers, and leading by example in sectors that have traditionally been less welcoming to women. These remarkable women embody the change we need, demonstrating that gender equality in the investment world is not only possible but also underway. You can check out who pitched before here.

APPLY NOW!

If you are part of a women-led company backed by the EIC and want to pitch your innovation in healthcare or biotech at the Startup Spotlight in Berlin, apply now!

Applications are open until 31 October 2024

The investor-focused jury composition will be announced soon.

This event will take place back-to-back with the EIC Info Day in Germany, where participants will be able to learn about key funding opportunities with a special focus on the EIC Accelerator programme.

The event falls in the context of the Gender Gap in Investments project, an initiative managed by the European Innovation Council and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Executive Agency (EISMEA) aimed at addressing gender disparities in the investment landscape. With a focus on women-led companies and women-led funds, the project seeks to uncover and analyse the root causes of the gender investment gap.

To achieve this, the project will develop a comprehensive study, using a harmonised methodology for robust and systematic data collection. This approach will allow for accurate assessments of investment disparities, and the development of suitable data analytics techniques to identify and address the gap effectively.

The project kicked off in with an opening event in Brussels on 24 September 2024, establishing a dedicated space to discuss the situation in the Benelux region concerning the gender gap in investments. Among other notable speakers, this event featured Lina Gálvez, Member of the European Parliament and the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy; Anna Panagopoulou, Director for ERA and Innovation at the European Commission’s DG RTD; and Mali Baum, EIC Board Member and CEO of WLOUNGE.

The upcoming event in Berlin comes as part of a series of local events to be held in 10 countries across Europe between September 2024 and June 2025. These events are a critical component of the project, serving as platforms for direct engagement with key stakeholders. The success of this project relies heavily on the valuable feedback and expertise gathered during these events, which bring together a diverse group of stakeholders including entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, academics, and community leaders.
