In collaboration with the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Collaboration, European Innovation Council facilitates access to EIC funded companies on the Japanese market. 5 out of 10 European SMEs were selected for EUJC digital mission, taking place this week, in Nagoya, Japan.

Internationalisation is a key element in the strategy of every startup and scaleup. Japan is a significant market with huge potential for European companies. It is the 16th most innovative country in the world and the artificial intelligence market in Japan is projected to grow by 16.41% between 2024 and 2030, resulting in a market volume of USD 30.91bn by 2030.

This week, the European Innovation Council is facilitating access to five EIC supported companies, that have been selected to take part in the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation event in Nagoya, Japan: AEInnova, Dyemansion GmbH, Qarnot Computing, QuantumDiamonds GmbH, TiHive. The companies will attend two events in Japan: Smart Manufacturing Summit and Aichi Innovation Days where they will have days full of pitching and business meetings with Japanese corporations.

Jean-Eric Paquet, the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Japan and the former Director-General for Research and Innovation, will pay a visit to the SMEs' stands. They will also be accompanied by EIC Business Acceleration Services Head of Sector, Agnieszka Stasiakowska, who will present the EIC programme to Japanese audiences in Nagoya and Tokyo via a dedicated workshop organised by the EU-Japan Centre on 14 March, from 14:30 to 16:00.

The EU-Japan Centre is a joint venture established in 1987 by the European Commission (DG GROW) and the Japanese Government (METI) for promoting all forms of industrial, trade, and investment cooperation between the EU and Japan.

This is the second step in the collaboration between the EIC, the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, and the EU-Japan Green Transition Business Matching Platform. The aim is to bring together companies, startups, and research organisations from Japan and Europe for partnerships that contribute to a low-carbon society and was launched on 3 January 2024.

The Centre partners with various stakeholders in Japan to mobilise Japanese corporations. EIC beneficiaries have a great chance to promote their Green Transition solutions on this platform, which offers online meeting sessions, online pitching, and webinars. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities.
