The Challenge
The challenge focuses on identifying a robust and accurate method to measure Free Water Carryover during potato washing and slicing. It aims to explore:
- Solutions that quantify water on both potatoes and conveyors
- Techniques that can be applied online or offline, excluding hyperspectral techniques
- Approaches that support improved efficiency
The ultimate goal is to better quantify FWCO to reduce frying energy use and lower associated GHG emissions.
Reward
Successful applicants may receive support that includes access to PepsiCo’s subject matter experts, relevant technical data, and R&D facilities. Selected collaborators may also have the opportunity to run funded live trials at PepsiCo production sites, with potential development or execution of project funding based on the proposal.
