Haleon is a global consumer health company based in the United Kingdom, with deep expertise in science-led innovation across oral health, pain relief, respiratory, digestive health, and vitamins.
The Challenge
The challenge focuses on enabling consumers to visualize and understand plaque buildup in the mouth. It aims to explore:
- Technologies that make plaque clearly visible, including dyes, coatings, or light-based solutions
- Low-cost visualization devices such as smartphone attachments or coated mirrors
- Real-time feedback mechanisms that show the effectiveness of oral hygiene routines and product use
- Solutions that increase consumer awareness of gum health and encourage proactive hygiene behavior
The ultimate goal is to develop a home-use solution that is affordable, easy to use, delivers results in under 5 minutes, and can be manufactured at scale.
Reward
Successful applicants may receive funding support of up to £50,000 through sponsored research or a pilot project.
