The resolution of Virtual Reality devices on the market is just 1/100 of what the average human eye can see. This means that all visual details are lost due to heavy pixelization, which makes these products rather useless in professional applications. Varjo is the first and only company in the world to deliver human-eye resolution virtual and mixed reality devices, meeting the most demanding enterprise applications across training and simulation, design and engineering and research. With the latest funding round, the Finnish startup has raised $100 million in total.

E-pitching on space and transport EIC
The European Innovation Council (EIC) just wrapped its first event under the Ecosystem Partnerships and Co-Investment Support programme. The e-pitching on Space and Transport gave 7 innovative companies the chance to pitch their solutions to investors on April 27.
The first e-pitching session of 2020 featured four excellent EIC-backed SME’s pitching their business ideas and next investment rounds on cybersecurity to representatives from the European Business Angels Network (EBAN).
On 24 September 2020 six EIC-backed innovators had the chance to show their COVID-19 solutions during a dedicated EIC ePitching session with Investors, taking place during the R&I Days 2020. The session was a follow-up of the first EIC ePitching with Investors on COVID-19, which took place in April this year.
The investment is in the top five funding rounds of the cleantech sector in the EU this year and will further accelerate Skeleton's growth.

On 19-20 February 2020, companies supported under the European Innovation Council (EIC)  had the opportunity to accelerate their business collaborating with AB InBev, the world’s leading brewer and one of Europe’s biggest food and drinks companies. AB InBev opened its doors to 32 SMEs to pitch and present their business cases at the group’s Global Innovation and Technology Center (GITEC) in its home city of Leuven, Belgium.

The e-pitching session in partnership with ESA gathered six companies supported by the European Innovation Council. The EIC-backed SME’s pitched their innovative ideas on Aerospace via webcam to an expert jury consisted out of representatives from Luxembourg Space Agency, NewSpace Capital, Barcamper Ventures, Mitsui, CosmiCapital & Safran.

The European Innovation Council pilot Business Acceleration Services and Bpifrance – EuroQuity organised the first EIC Investor Day of 2020. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak the physical event was rendered into an all-digital event with separate ePitching-sessions.
The EIC is pleased to invite all eligible start-ups to participate in our monthly EIC ePitching with Investors. Imagine bringing together several European business partners, each with their own green challenges, involving many participants to solve them. This will be the EIC Greenathon, the first online hackathon focused on the European Green Deal. The Danish multinational Danfoss joined the initiative and will literally level up the energy of this competition. A team of investors from the Odense robotics cluster based in Denmark has injected DKK 80M (nearly $12M USD) into the company. This new investment supports the growth of the EIC-funded developer that describes itself as a “Robot Venture Factory”.
On 9 June 2020 the European Innovation Council hosted an EIC Community Training on HR for start-ups in the process of scaling. In this session 21 EIC-funded SMEs had to chance to learn and interact with Jose Martinez, EIC business coach specialised in leadership and HR, and EIC community member Diana Špakauskaitė, HR-manager at Ruptela.

ATLANT 3D Nanosystems received a request from NASA to develop their first atomic layer 3D printing compact machine for micro and zero gravity. ATLANT 3D presented this new concept and, thanks to their “ATLANT 3D Nanofabricator 0G”, secured the US Space Agency as one of their clients.

The EIC Accelerator is supporting the EU Green Deal via a dedicated funding call and the consequent selection of 64 Green SMEs. In addition to the funding, the EIC supports this ambitious agenda through a series of events like the EIC Greenathon and EIC Investors Day on the EU Green Deal.

The programme run by Euronext is trying to help scaling technology companies prepare for public listings and other forms of mature financing. This year, 132 tech companies from 12 countries across Europe are participating in the TechShare program. Amongst them are 15 EIC funded companies that are working on a large variety of fields.
