The call for applications for the selection of members of the EIC Board is open until 30 June. The Commission will select between 15 and 20 members to be appointed to the Board, which is expected to start its operations in September.

The online platform – ScaleUp EU – has made it much easier for investors to connect with companies funded by the European Innovation Council pilot.
High potential abounds in the green space. The second e-pitching session of the year was focused on renewable energy and allowed six SME’s to virtually pitch their business ideas to key green energy investors.
The EIC-funded company won the European Scale-Up Award 2019, endowed with 100,000€.

The first e-pitching session of 2020 featured four excellent EIC-backed SME’s pitching their business ideas and next investment rounds on cybersecurity to representatives from the European Business Angels Network (EBAN).
On 10 March 2020, a limited number of EIC-backed up SMEs will have the chance to pitch their innovations to investors at Bpifrance during the joint EIC Investor Day. The event will take place during the Deep Tech Week in Paris.
For the first time the European Innovation Council organised an Innovation Procurers Day, together with the German Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) and its members. During this day 9 EIC-backed innovators had the exclusive chance to pitch to innovative procurers from the Pharma industry. The event took place in Dresden, Germany on 4 March 2020 as part of the 5th Pharma Supply Chain Congress (3-5 March 2020).

The EIC is pleased to invite all eligible startups to participate in our monthly EIC ePitching with Investors. This edition will focus on mobility and transport-related innovations and will take place on 14 May 2020, 12 pm CET, mark your calendars! A limited number of EIC-backed up SMEs will have the chance to show their innovative solutions in all matters related to mobility and transport via an online tool to a jury of investors –consisting out of representatives from Earlybird, Munich Venture Partners, Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH, Siemens Venture Capital, InMotion Ventures, Maniv Mobility and WBX Ventures.
Women-owned businesses are on the rise, with innovations that announce an encouraging change. But this doesn’t mean that female entrepreneurs have stopped facing obstacles altogether. When it comes to winning funding for a start-up or assume leadership positions in the VC space, women are still under-represented and facing clear hurdles. Despite this unfavourable climate, many female projects are starting off on the right foot and achieving equal success as male entrepreneurs. The European Innovation Council brought together over 50 public and private procurers, five European corporates and more than 20 EIC-backed SMEs during the first EIC ePitching with Procurers, a dedicated session on COVID19-solutions. The procurers, public as well as private-sector, and the SMEs had the opportunity to pitch their needs and respective solutions followed by a vote on who pitched the most innovative solutions. Eyecontrol and RESPINOR went home with the prize in their respective pitching-sessions.

In 2018, thanks to EnduroSat, the Bulgarian Space Industry celebrated a historical moment: the first country’s CubeSat was activated in space and connected to two ground stations. This was the first space mission for EnduroSat, involving schools and universities to ensure a long-lasting educational outreach program in addition to the technical verification of all the components. This year, a new satellite from EnduroSat will lift off, and the Bulgarian startup will make history again.
