For the first time the EIC is collaborating with the German Association of Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) to introduce your services to the Pharma Supply Chain Managers in company pitches, business speed dating and prescheduled B2B matchmakings. This workshop will take place in Dresden, Germany on the 4th of March and the overall conference takes place from 3rd to the 5th of March 2020. Applications are due on 31 January 2020.

On 23-24 March 2021 the European Innovation Council (EIC) Business Acceleration Services will organize the EIC Investor Day: Digitalization of the European Industry.
The company, part of the EU-funded SOLNATIDE consortium , is accelerating the development of peptide-based treatments targeting these late-stage COVID-19 patients and conducting a clinical study at the Medical University of Vienna.

With oceans becoming clogged by plastics, companies are introducing eco-friendly consumer products to take advantage of the public growing concerns over plastic waste. Most of the plastics are actually packaging. This problem has been addressed by some biodegradable solutions such as bioplastic, paper or even bamboo containers. However, they still need at least half a year to degrade. Warsaw-based manufacturer Biotrem is making more than 10 million pieces of biodegradable disposable (single-use) tableware and cutlery that compost — without need for industrial composting facilities — within 30 days.
The European Innovation Council pilot's funded company InnovaFeed, specialized in the production of insect proteins, announced to have completed a round of 40 million euros, the majority in the form of capital, led by a group of investors by Creadev, the Mulliez family's fund, and Temasek, the Singaporean investment giant. Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation have jointly invested 80 M€ in Rimac Automobili - the Croatian high-performance electric vehicle technology and sportscar company. The companies have announced a strategic partnership to collaborate on the development of high-performance electric vehicles.

On 19-20 February 2020, companies supported under the European Innovation Council (EIC)  had the opportunity to accelerate their business collaborating with AB InBev, the world’s leading brewer and one of Europe’s biggest food and drinks companies. AB InBev opened its doors to 32 SMEs to pitch and present their business cases at the group’s Global Innovation and Technology Center (GITEC) in its home city of Leuven, Belgium.
For the first time the European Innovation Council organised an Innovation Procurers Day, together with the German Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) and its members. During this day 9 EIC-backed innovators had the exclusive chance to pitch to innovative procurers from the Pharma industry. The event took place in Dresden, Germany on 4 March 2020 as part of the 5th Pharma Supply Chain Congress (3-5 March 2020).

Greening agriculture is one of the main challenges in the fight against climate change. In line with the European Green Deal, the European Commission adopted a comprehensive new Biodiversity Strategy to bring nature back into our lives and a Farm to Fork Strategy for a healthy and environmentally friendly food system. Many pesticides and antibiotics are being banned to ensure healthier food, boost organic farming and privilege the use of eco-friendly solutions. Founded in 2018, the EIC-funded innovation developed by Agrosustain is a good example working on this domain. The Swiss start-up is trying to reduce food waste and promote sustainable agriculture with natural solutions for pest management.

From developing original technological solutions that are environment-friendly to setting up new businesses and coaching innovative start-ups into becoming scale-ups. His passion lies with green scale-ups. He is the proud CEO of LG Sonic, a leading example of what a green innovative SME can achieve. At LG Sonic, they reduce chemical cost by controlling algae and biofilm in different applications like surface water, industrial water, and maritime.

The pandemic brought global uncertainty, transforming how businesses run and how leaders lead. The silver lining is that uncertainty can create opportunities – especially for companies that survive and innovate from the unexpected. But how can businesses reinvent themselves in times of crisis? During the past five weeks, the European Innovation Council offered an online EIC Summer School focusing on several challenges with dedicated training sessions. In partnership with The DO School, the EIC Community events provided tools and key lessons on leveraging capabilities, moving quickly, and maximising teams through crisis and change. Here’s the wrap-up of this Summer learning experience.

NANO-EH, a new EIC Pathfinder project, will enhance emerging classes of energy harvesting nanomaterials, while surpassing the current paradigm by developing non-toxic and rare earth/lead-free materials exhibiting CMOS-compatibility and scalability for low cost and large-scale manufacturing.

The Spanish project ECUVal aims to implement an innovative wastewater treatment system that could solve the problems of textile wastewater, one of the main water consumer industries, which is generating high volumes of wastewater with high levels of coloration and salinity.

Since being awarded the H2020-SME instrument phase 2 grant in 2014, eVision has taken a structured approach to developing, testing, piloting, improving and implementing the various technological innovations required to create its Cumulative Dynamic Barrier Risk system.
On 2017, Heliox has received an order for a further 23 x 450kW Opportunity Charge System and 86 x FAST DC 30kW CCS bus chargers from Connexxion (Transdev), to power the largest single fleet of opportunity charged electric buses in the world.
A total of 65 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form 16 countries have been selected for funding under the latest round of the SME Instrument. The companies will receive a total amount of €113 million to share between their projects to get their innovations faster on the market.

This year, the AlgaEnergy signed a commercial agreement with a fertilizer leader in Spain, to combine efforts on its products and other agricultural bio stimulants. The company also recently opened a subsidiary in Japan.
