About

The European Innovation Council (EIC) Business Acceleration Services and Novo Nordisk invite EIC beneficiaries to apply to an online EIC Corporate Day on 28 March 2023. This specially designed service is meant to gear up collaboration with the corporate and forge new partnerships. Being one of the leaders in global healthcare, Novo Nordisk contributes with pioneering scientific breakthroughs to defeat diabetes and other serious chronic diseases.

Make sure to APPLY until 12 February 2023!

Founded in 1923, the Danish-based corporate Novo Nordisk has been translating the unmet medical needs of people living with serious chronic diseases into innovative medicines and delivery systems. Their treatments benefit millions of people that suffer from diabetes, obesity, and rare blood and endocrine diseases. Novo Nordisk’s long-term ambition is to provide access to affordable diabetes care for vulnerable patients in every country.

EIC beneficiaries selected to attend the online EIC Corporate Day with Novo Nordisk on 28 March 2023 will have access to specific training for pitching, pre-arranged meetings with top decision-makers from Novo Nordisk, and the possibility to network with high-level partners and like-minded innovators in a dedicated online event.

Who can apply?

Novo Nordisk is looking for innovations in the following topics:

Challenge 1:

Solutions to advance data quality/integrity/observability

Novo Nordisk is looking for tools addressing analytics data layers (AWS Data Hub/ADA). Potential solutions could include data quality tools that connect to SQL server/AWS Data hub, tools that provide visibility of data profiling, different data quality pillars (accuracy, uniqueness, validity etc.), and other relevant metrics.

Challenge 2:

Decision support solutions to orchestrate business processes and decision-making in supply chain

Novo Nordisk is exploring the potential of a digital twin, control towers and a command centre across their supply chain. They are looking for decision intelligence solutions to link relevant data to decisions and prognosis outcomes in near real-time.

They are interested in software to structure key business processes and related decisions in workflows and enrich them with relevant data to generate recommendations for human decision-makers to validate.

The solution should allow an up-or-down grade of an automation level when needed and anchoring of a decision in core IT systems incl. ERP, planning or logistics management systems. Furthermore, it should enable continuous evaluation of decision outcomes and decision optimisation based on a feedback system.

Challenge 3:

Recommendation of transport equipment to maintain stable temperature in a cold chain

Transportation of Novo Nordisk’s medical products needs to meet specific requirements incl. and not limited to temperature within a range of 2-8 degrees Celsius. Temperature deviations outside the specified range may impact several parameters such as the time they have left for packaging, and product quality product shelf-life in a negative way.

To secure required temperature conditions, they use transport equipment like thermal blankets, pallet shippers, and opticooler, and monitor the temperature during shipments with temperature loggers.

How can Novo Nordisk use (historical) temperature data and others to optimise distribution routes and match which shipment equipment should be used to maintain required temperature conditions?

Challenge 4:

Reporting of packaging materials to health and tax authorities in (non-) EU countries

Novo Nordisk is looking to digitalise and automate a process of reporting plastic, other waste and packaging materials to tax and health authorities in EU and non-EU countries. The solution should help quantify and report waste according to requirements given in a particular country incl. and not limited to segmentation into plastic, glass, paper, wood, steel, aluminium, etc. Furthermore, they are looking for high accuracy of this process and the possibility to verify the amounts with data available in our ERP systems (e.g., invoices).
