On 8 April 2020 EIC-backed SMEs had the chance to show their Agritech solutions during a dedicated EIC ePitching session with investors.

High-tech is gaining ground and revolutionising the age-old world of agriculture. It’s also clear, that consumers in Europe have a greater desire for sustainable food and new investments in AgriTech innovations have a key role to play in this sustainable scenario.

Switzerland’s AgroSustain, Israeli start-ups Beewise Technologies LTD and eggXYt’s,  Poland’s Smart Soft Solutions sp. Zo o.o, Xpectraltek Lda, a Portuguese tech-company and Evologic, hailing from Austria, all participated in this session dedicated to Agritech. They had the opportunity to pitch their innovations to a selection of expert juries consisting out of representatives from AgriTech Hub, BayWa r.e. Energy Ventures GmbH, Capagro, and Céréa Partenaire.

The SMEs all had 10 minutes to showcase their ideas: 6 minutes of pitching followed by 4 minutes of Q&A by the jury members and other present investors.

Kristal Golan, a first-time jury member from Bay. Wa r.e. Venture, was impressed with the start-ups and the format:

“The EIC ePitching was exactly what I imagined. I really like the format and was impressed with the good organisation and the quality start-ups that were pitching.”

Bénédicte Monpert from Capagro, commented on the session:

“I really appreciated the quality of all the presentations, the respect of the timing and the dynamism of the pitches. Most of the companies are addressing real issues with interesting market potentials.”

Marcin Wozniak from AgriTech Hub fully agreed with that last point:

“I was impressed with the pitches and the problems they are trying to solve. These are real problems and introducing the solution to the market will bring about real value.”
