The global climate emergency is a pressing issue that is being addressed by start-ups, corporates and institutions alike. Take for instance the EIC GHG programme that was recently launched. Also, large corporates have been working hard to encourage start-ups and SMEs to enhance their technologies for a common goal. With the objective of supporting young, innovative companies, the New Energy Challenge, organised by Shell, Get in the Ring, Rockstart and YES!Delft, is looking for solutions that will open the way for the energy system of the future.

Domains

The New Energy Challenge is calling for applications that present innovative energy technologies and digital solutions that make it affordable for business customers to avoid or reduce greenhouse -gas emissions. These can be relevant for:

  • Energy storage
  • Energy delivery
  • Energy usage/management

In sectors where it is hard to abate emissions, the presented technologies and innovations should aim to compensate for emissions in the short-term using nature-based solutions.

Timeline

  • Phase 1: The deadline for applications is 1 June, at midnight (UTC+2)
  • Phase 2: In June and July, the 20 best entries will be selected on the basis of the quality and potential of their business model, innovative technologies and digital solutions.
  • Phase 3: The finalists have three weeks of preparation through mentoring sessions leading up to the Finals Event.
  • Phase 4: The Top 10 finalists (5 per track – start-ups track and scale-ups track) will be invited to join the Finals Event and the three weeks leading up to this, taking place late October.
