European innovators were taking full advantage of partnering with L’Oréal in Paris, France. Twelve European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot funded companies took the chance to present their groundbreaking technologies within the cosmetics sector on 26-27 November 2019.

L’Oréal exclusively invited EIC funded companies to pitch their solutions and to benefit from an immediate exchange in one-to-one meetings. Among the participants were startups and scaleups working on innovative approaches to solvents, tensile and adhesive materials as well as to skin and hair application, and many more.

At the event, Ivan Rodriguez, Global Open Innovation Director at L’Oréal, spoke on the motivation behind it: “We aim to accelerate the transformation of products and services we bring to the market and also gain more relevance about specific technologies that could be a real game changer now or in the future. Therefore, we’re looking for startups and innovative companies with a deep scientific background so that L'Oréal can translate their technical solution into the cosmetics solution.”

When questioned about the potential of companies presenting, Ivan Rodriguez was quick to answer: “I’m very impressed about the pitches that I saw today. The quality of the SMEs is very high, thanks to the proper selection process. I already identified a couple of them that seem to be highly relevant, because they are close to the devices, and show novel sustainable and technological approaches.”
