Travelling is a time-consuming business and there are many elements to consider before jetting off: barbaric jet lag, cramped seats, cacophonous hotel rooms, delays when it comes to flights, trains, rental cars. In the past, these concerns could only be addressed with vigorous planning but, as technology has advanced, apps have presented effortless solutions. According to the Wall Street Journal, Dayuse is one of the clever new apps.

EIC funded company Dayuse is one of the 9 apps and websites selected by The Wall Street Journal for business travellers. This day-time booking platform lets you check into hotels at super short notice. If you need a place to relax, freshen up or just to catch a few hours of sleep, this app will find you rooms – with discounts.

Dayuse.com’s innovative service claims to allow hoteliers to rent their rooms twice on the same day, but this concept is embraced by both hotels and consumers. On one hand, hoteliers can generate incremental revenue by selling their empty rooms during the day. On the other hand, this platform saves the day for a very large clientele: travellers with a never-ending layover, business people looking for a remote office or locals in need of a daycation.

“Dayuse.com was born from a desire to optimise unused hotel resources. It was built by hoteliers for hoteliers. We also answer an existing demand in daytime hotel bookings matching needs for various usages: a second office, a place to rest for a power nap or a daycation”, explained David Lebée, CEO and founder of Dauyse.com, during an interview to the Boutique Hotel News.

The platform already has some services-apartments and introduced hotel spas and hotel meeting rooms, allowing the consumers to benefit from not only the rooms. By the end of 2015, the company received 15 million euros in funding from VCs Idinvest Partners and Partech Ventures including investment from renowned business angels Paul Dubrule (co-founder of Accor), Cédric Barbier (founder of Lesjeudis.com) and Charles Petruccelli (ex-president of American Express Travel).

“Dayuse.com's partners and investors have always been convinced by the strong and innovative concept since day one, believing that we are revolutionising the hospitality industry. As a new player in the on-demand economy, our ambition is to disrupt a previously untapped market. These investments from highly-respected hospitality industry professionals confirm the strength of the business model, and the trust given to Dayuse as the leader of the market.”, added David Lebée.

The daytime hotel booking platform is available in 23 countries with more than 5,000 hotel partners. The service has facilitated over one million bookings globally since the platform’s launch in 2010. In 2018, Dayuse has received a Phase 2 grant of 1.507.931 € from the EIC pilot SME instrument.
