The European Commission is inviting you to a series of online events that offer African and European organisations the opportunity to build-up and forge new ties within the pharma, biotech and medtech industries to address global health needs. The virtual marketplace and a series of online matchmaking events will take place on 18 May and 27-28 June.

Register and take part in the event!

There is huge potential for collaboration between African and European companies across all industrial ecosystems. In light of the pandemic, one of the industries that requires more attention is the healthcare one. Africa has the ambition and the opportunity to become more autonomous in producing quality vaccines against COVID-19 and other diseases, as well as in the production of essential medicines, diagnostics, equipment, and other health products.

The virtual marketplace and matchmaking events are designed to enhance cooperation between EU and Africa on pharmaceuticals, biologicals and medical technologies.

This series of events aims to:

  • Build-up and strengthen the existing relationship between EU and Africa on quality, safe, effective and affordable health products production to address global health needs.
  • Support the research uptake, innovation and manufacturing of vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics, equipment or other health technologies necessary to prevent and treat diseases particularly prevalent in Africa or relevant for global threats.
  • Enhance the collaboration between EU and African organisations in the value chains of pharma and medical technology industry.

The first webinar “Understanding the markets” will take place on Wednesday, 18 May 2022.

You can know more about these events by visiting the EU–Africa pharma and healthcare marketplace and matchmaking events page, and by checking the programme.
