Open Call – EIC Multi-Corporate Day with Saint-Gobain, Solvay & EDF: Accelerating Decarbonisation and Carbon Neutrality

The European Innovation Council (EIC), together with corporates Saint-GobainSolvay and EDF, invite you to apply to a joint EIC Multi-Corporate Day taking place physically in Paris, France, on 19 October 2022. This specially designed initiative aims to gear up collaborative efforts with the three European Corporates and forge new connections and partnerships with EIC-funded innovators and SMEs in the areas that help decarbonise and electrify the Industrial & Mobility markets.

Saint-Gobain – the French-based corporate that’s the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction –, Solvay – the Belgian-based science corporate that’s the global leader in materials, chemicals, and solutions –, and EDF – the leading French-based corporate in generating zero-carbon electricity and innovative solutions and services – are combining their efforts in seeking innovative and scalable solutions to accelerate the adoption of technologies to decarbonise and electrify the Industrial & Mobility markets.

 

With that in mind, selected EIC beneficiaries will have access to specific training, pitching, pre-arranged meetings with top decision-makers from the aforementioned corporates and will have the possibility to network with high-level partners and like-minded innovators in a dedicated physical event in Paris, France.

 

Application requirements & Challenges

Considering the sponsoring corporates’ carbon-neutral pledge and their journey toward sustainability, applications are open to EIC-funded SMEs working on innovations related to new technologies that can accelerate the transition across the industrial & mobility markets sector. More specifically, Saint-Gobain, Solvay, and EDF are looking for solutions in the following areas:

 

Challenge 1: Energy Transition Technologies

The Sponsoring Corporates are looking for new materials, products, solutions, and business model innovations for transitioning from carbon-heavy to carbon neutrality.

Sub challenge 1.1: Improving Energy Efficiency in industrial processes, Including Factory Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Predictive Analytics & Energy Optimization.

Sub challenge 1.2: New & sustainable technologies that enable carbon reuse including Carbon Utilization, Carbon Capture, and carbon sequestration.

Sub challenge 1.3: Low-Carbon & Sustainable Hydrogen Technologies including On-Site H2 technologies, technologies for Production (low-cost, high-purity, high reliability), Innovative Fuel Cell Technologies & Storage and Transportation (cost-effective, high volume) of hydrogen.

Sub challenge 1.4: Electrification of industrial processes, Electrification & Energy Storage technologies, including Green Cement & Carbon negative Concrete and Steel.

Sub challenge 1.5: Alternative Fuels and materials like Biofuels, Biogases, Innovative Fuel Cells Technologies & materials such as Biochar for concrete. 

 

Challenge 2: Electrification & Battery technologies

The Sponsoring Corporates are looking for new materials, products, solutions, and business model innovations for the electrification of the mobility industry.

Sub challenge 2.1: New Electric Vehicle players including Commercial EVs, new Fuel cell EV technologies, E-Mobility & Mobility as a Service startup.

Sub challenge 2.2: New Electric Vehicle battery technologies including Solid-state batteries, Lithium-ion batteries, Sodium-ion batteries, Battery recycling, Thermal Management, Raw materials, mining of metals for EV batteries, and Battery Production.

Sub challenge 2.3: electric Motor technologies, Smart motors, and Axial flux motors. 

 

Opportunities for selected EIC-funded SMEs

  • Privileged access to leading companies with the potential to initiate strategic partnerships along with increased visibility and possible access to new markets;
  • Networking opportunities with relevant business counterparts based on your company profile;
  • Personalised online training on pitching techniques and specifications before the event; 
  • Services related to support before, during and after the event.

In your application form, you should include the answer to the questions:

  • What is your business compliance with the event?
  • What are your expected specific synergies/outcomes for your potential business with the Corporations?

Please acknowledge the information you provide on the application form will be shared with all the Sponsoring corporates to maximise potential benefits and ensure the effectiveness of meetings. Saint-Gobain, Solvay, and EDF, based on their business interests, will select the final participants among the applicants.

The Business Acceleration Services will contact all applicants once the selection process has been concluded. However, this contact does not include feedback or recommendations for those not selected.

The Business Acceleration Services participants are expected to fill out a brief satisfaction survey shortly after the event, and a business impact survey after six months. Failure to do so may lead to exclusion from future Business Acceleration Services.
