On 17th of November, from 14:00 to 17:00 (CET), the EU Agency for Cybersecurity - ENISA is organising a validation workshop on Cybersecurity for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The aim of this virtual workshop is to validate ENISA’s Report on Cybersecurity for SMEs and provide a platform for the survey and interviews so that participants can provide feedback on the report’s content and recommendations. SMEs that participated in the survey and selected other stakeholders, including National Authorities, other EU agencies and stakeholders, will attend the event. The final report will be made public later this year or early next year.

Register here by Wednesday, 11th November (17:00 CET).

In times of COVID pandemic, European Small and Medium-sized Enterprises face many issues including abrupt shift to remote work and cybersecurity challenges. For the purposes of the report, over 250 European SMEs participated in the ENISA online survey between July and September 2020, and 16 were interviewed. ENISA will present and validate with SMEs and other stakeholders the key findings, key challenges and resulting cybersecurity recommendations. Also, four SMEs will present their real life experience and cybersecurity best practices.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of EU's economy. There were slightly more than 25 million SMEs in the EU-28 in 2018. They represent 99% of all businesses in the EU and employ around 100 million people. They also account for more than half of Europe’s GDP and play a key role in adding value in all sectors of the EU economy. SMEs are both enablers for the digital transformation, and a core element of the EU social fabric. So, their digital wellbeing and security is paramount to ENISA and other EU bodies.
