News - Live Webinar: Discover the €20 million grant fund to help SMEs maximise their intellectual property assets

The Ideas Powered for Business SME Fund is a €20 million grant scheme created to help European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) access their intellectual property rights. EUIPO, with the collaboration of the European Commission, launched the 1st round of applications on 11th January 2021 and will organise a live webinar to present the new SME Fund on 19th January 2021. Open to all EU enterprises that fit the official definition of an SME, the new grant will offer financial support in the form of reimbursements for trademark, design application and IP pre-diagnostic services (IP Scan), up to a maximum amount of  €1500 per business. The applications for this new grant scheme are distributed in five phases (windows) during 2021, according to the following timetable:

The grants will be awarded on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and the applications made outside of the five designated periods will not be considered. The live webinar on 19th January will cover the requirements, timing and other information relevant to the scheme. EUIPO speakers Jose Ignacio MALDONADO and Lynn Burtchaell will present the SME Fund and other interesting services such as the free personalised consultations for SME offered by IP experts.

The new scheme is run through the Ideas Powered for Business programme at the EUIPO and is part of the European Commission’s IP Action Plan. It is carried out in cooperation with the national and regional intellectual property offices of the EU.
