Cypheme, a leading anti-counterfeit solutions provider, has joined forces with Medihands to ensure that millions of lives are saved by eliminating counterfeit and substandard PPEs from the market.
The world is still trying to overcome the Coronavirus pandemic, and Protective and Preventive Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks and other related items have become a part of our daily lives. If all of these products are not adequately safeguard, there is a risk of imitation and diversion that can ultimately harm our safety and well-being. Medihands, a leading Swiss medical equipment supplier, has teamed up with French anti-counterfeit solutions provider Cypheme to help prevent the infiltration of fakes and substandard imitations onto the market. The project has received funding from the EIC to develop its latest artificial intelligence (AI) powered anti-counterfeit solution.

The deal will ensure that 600 million products from Medihands are protected with Cypheme's anti-counterfeit stickers annually. As part of the agreement, Cypheme's fingerprint labels will be stamped on Medihands' medical equipment, making it easier for retailers, distributors and users to verify the equipment's authenticity just using a smartphone's camera. Cypheme's patented anti-counterfeit solution stands out because it is a one-of-a-kind fingerprint technology that gives a unique identifier to every original product it is affixed on.
About the cooperation between the two companies, Hans-Jörg Geisen, CEO of Medihands, mentioned that "we always take pride in our products' quality and reliability and this is what has made us as a market leader. That is why we joined forces Cypheme's anti-counterfeit solutions to take proactive measures against diversions and sub-standard imitations."
Cypheme has received a Phase 2 Grant from the European Innovation Council to develop two AI-based counterfeit detection systems that allow consumers to identify counterfeit objects using a standard smartphone camera.
